Evolution of Learning

(Lee en Español aquí)

The last two weekends I have been teaching a Yoga Immersion called Asana Lab, in which we have developed refined alignments to understand the biomechanics during the practice of Yoga postures, learning to be able to adjust the students from a place of understanding and synchrony of energies. We went through different aspects such as Pranayama, Vedic Mantras, Yoga Philosophy and Anatomy to support the physical practices with strong pillars. The group of teachers who participated were absolutely devoted, with an open heart and curious mind, which really made of this experience something that went beyond my own expectations.

I have been building this “Asana Lab” Immersion for over 2 years. It started as a “Yoga Methodology: Refining Asana & Teaching Techniques”, which was a 12 Hour workshop in which we explored biomechanics applied to Asana Alignment.

At some point, because my practice is mostly Ashtanga (though I also combine other Yoga schools or visions to my practice) I started to integrate all the alignment knowledge to the primary series of Ashtanga Vinyasa so the workshop evolved into an Ashtanga Asana Lab. The time passed and I realized that the way I experience the Yoga Path includes other foundations that are not part of the traditional Ashtanga practice and also I got to develop more methodology concepts that I wanted to start sharing. I realized then that what I wanted to do was to share all of these resources with other teachers, and that is how the 40Hr Asana Lab Immersion was born.

I taught the first one in August 2017 in New Jersey at Balance Yoga Studio, and the second one in January 2018 at the same location. This year, in March, I had the opportunity of teaching it in an amazing studio called Nara Purna Yoga in Costa Rica.

This process of creating Asana Lab has made me understand that my little contribution to this modern world, where we all want to achieve fast and become someone so we can belong, is to share from my own truth a light that helps us to remember that there is nothing to be achieved or to become, we are already everything, and in the journey of teaching yoga what we must never forget is that before being teachers we are students. In the name of the student in us we should study and learn everyday how to become more truthful and free. That is how Sacred Self School of Yoga was born.

At Sacred Self School of Yoga we believe that we must learn to be students first and then we learn to be teachers. This is why we have created our first 250 Hrs Teacher Training with numerous requirements that we consider fundamental for anyone who wants to start or refine the journey of teaching or sharing their own experience with others. Our training will start in September and last 4 months. This will not be an introduction to Yoga course, but will start from the baseline that the practitioner has already been a student for some years and have started to walk the path of Yoga, so we will focus in two main aspects: 1. empowering the practitioner to acknowledge the sacred aspect of their true self and 2. developing the methodology tools required to share the yoga path from a place of truthfulness and sacredness.

I am deeply grateful for every teacher and student that has believed in me and in my path and has contributed to the process of finally deciding to create this school, and to my partner and husband who has empowered and joined me in manifesting it.

I am truly joyful to invite you to participate in this journey together.
